Nelly Blit Dunkel
Sep 11, 2023      כ"ה אלול תשפ"ג

Nelly Blit Dunkel began life as a young, happy, and privileged child in Warsaw, until the age of eight, when the Nazis invaded Poland. She was in hiding in the Warsaw Ghetto with her mother, twin sister, and other family members. Thanks to the Jewish Labor Bund, the twins were taken from the Ghetto and hidden on the Aryan side until the end of the war. She went on to be reunited with her father and sister in London. She met Karl, her husband, in Belgium and they were married from 1950 until Karl’s death in 2016. She and Karl had two daughters, three grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren at the time of her death. Nelly died peacefully on September 11, 2023.
